Sustainably Yours, Catherine

Pecha Kucha Presentation Today!

In my presentation I discussed how I am reproducing an activist workshop curriculum about my unit 2 project of food sovereignty and community food production. It went by super fast but I feel good about the information I gave. I think my use of specific examples for each component was effective. I also liked that I used real pictures! I was unable to say everything I wanted to say within in the time limit, so I didn’t tie everything together perfectly, which may have made the presentation less effective. I definitely should have practiced more to get better at saying all my relevant information within the time constraint.  Feedback welcome! AWD presentation unit 3

Catherine, you killed it. Real fun presentation.
Effective: real pictures you’ve taken; communication of importance and context; solid genre for the space, great pick
Less effective: Maybe some more examples; connect more to long-term impact; and maybe provide more detail on genre deconstruction

  2. Most effective: Bright pictures to capture audience. Fast paced and energetic, passionate about subject.

Critique: Too excited at times, slow down to fully explain to audience what your project is (Great explanation nonetheless), Breakdown how your project works better (seemed multistructured), use more examples!

  3. I really enjoyed your presentation. I never really knew how a workshop was developed so it was very informative for me. Your pictures were also great because they were personal to you and fit with your presentation. I would just suggest to speaking a little more slowly next time, I know it is very fast paced.

I thought your presentation went really well, and I enjoyed learning about a document I had never really given much consideration to before. I think you broke down the main aspects and point of the document (to reproduce the environment for a successful conversation) really well. You seemed to handle the time fairly well also. I also really like the personal pictures that were included. The only critique I would have is that some of the slides were a little text heavy, and they seemed to be things you were talking about already, so the text wasn’t really needed.

  5. I really enjoyed this presentation. Especially the photo’s of your experiences regarding the subject. It made it more engaging and personal. Nice job!

  6. Effective:
    Good confidence
Great to see pictures of you involved in the type of workshop you were describing
Nice use of word charts in presentation

    Critiques:
You showed bits and pieces of examples, it would have been good to show a full version so that we could see the layout and such
The pictures were a nice touch but there were a lot of them and it seemed to slightly take away from your overall message
It is great that you have such confidence in your presentation but at times it seemed as if you were shouting

  7. +/ 1. I like the examples you gave like the events you attended before. Helped a lot to understand the project.
    2. Strong connection between unit 1, 2, and 3. I like how you put the word diagram. Architects love diagrams!

-/1. Interesting topic but still I really don’t know what you discuss in these events.
    2. Maybe you can talk about what they do after the event? Like what happens after a conference? Are they effective?

  8. Catherine-

I thought the way you organized your presentation was really strong and effective. I liked how you just jumped right into your genre and I also enjoyed learning how to produce a workshop curriculum – learned something new! Your explanations were clear and you also made good use of examples, which made it easier for me to follow. Not sure I have much to suggest but I really liked the use of your personal photo at the end so it may be effective to include more of those through out if you have. Or maybe your did but I don’t remember ? Just a thought…

  9. I really enjoyed your presentation yesterday. I could totally feel you passionate on this study field. Love the interesting pictures you put in the slides, they really helped me to understand your ideas easily. Great examples was entertaining. However, speak slowlier might be better!

  10. I really enjoyed your presentation, it is informative and let me the information in your field. The images are interesting in the slides and attract audience to learn more knowledge about the workshop and your project. But need more explanation of the conference or solution. But great work and really interesting!

  11. I thought it was really interesting how you are using your actual experiences as examples for your genre (I am too with my syllabi, but yours are cooler lol). Maybe discussing the impact of these conferences would be something to include more of.

  12. I enjoyed your presentation a lot. I can see your passion in the field and I never thought a workshop could be loaded so much information. It is good that you related your pictures in the project and showed us the breakdown of each section. But it would be better that you showed us the whole image of the workshop. Also, you might want to talk a little bit slow so we can catch up the information well, of course, it’s understandable since the time is so short.

  13. I really enjoyed how important your topic was to you personally, it makes a huge difference when people are passionate. Just make sure you don’t get too excited and start rushing. I’d be really interested to know a little more about the conference.
